FundRock Management Company, a unit of Apex Group, has been appointed by Partners Capital to provide ManCo services for their flagship fund.  FundRock will provide ManCo services for Partners Capital’s flagship fund, the Master Portfolio C fund, following their support during the fund’s re-domiciliation to Luxembourg last October.

Partners Capital, an outsourced investment office managing over 51 billion dollars of assets, serves endowments and foundations, investment professionals, and families globally. Apex Group previously supported Partners Capital’s Asia-focused fund with fund administration and management company services in 2022.

FundRock is one of Europe’s largest ManCos, overseeing 1,200 funds with 229 billion euro in assets under management, serviced by 500 experts in 12 jurisdictions. FundRock offers third-party ManCo services and a range of fund administration, depositary, and custody services through parent company Apex Group. This appointment adds to FundRock’s track record of high-profile ManCo mandate wins.

Fund now subject to AIFMD

A spokesperson for Boston-based Partners Capital said the fund already was relocated to Luxembourg last year, in order to make it subject to the European rules for alternative investment funds. The fund is managed as a Reserved Alternative Investment Fund in Luxembourg, which means that its manager, not the fund itself, is the interlocutor with supervisory authorities.

“Partners Capital redomiciled its offshore flagship liquid multi-asset class multi-manager fund to Luxembourg in October 2022. The Fund has thus been brought within the full scope of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (“AIFMD”), one of the most reputable, investor-protective and transparent regimes globally for alternative investment funds. The migration to Luxembourg will allow Partners Capital to better service its existing and future clients, particularly in Europe.”

FundRock said its partnership with Partners Capital reflects the demand for streamlined solutions in the investment management industry. In a press release, Jean-Daniel Zandona, regional head, business development at Apex Group, expressed pride in supporting Partners Capital’s investment operations. Romain Denis, managing director of FundRock, highlighted the trend of funds partnering with established third-party management companies for access to European investors. Toby Seth, partner and global CFO for Partners Capital, praised the support provided by Apex Group and FundRock in migrating the fund efficiently to Luxembourg.
