Goldman Sachs Asset Management has successfully raised over 200 million dollars with its inaugural European Long Term Investment Fund, Private Markets Eltif 2023. The fund offers individual investors direct access to investments in the private market and is managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, a leading global investment firm overseeing over 450 billion dollars in alternative assets.

This fund is the first in a series of Private Markets Eltifs aimed at providing private investors with the performance and diversification benefits of private markets. It offers direct exposure to investments in various sectors and strategies, primarily focusing on private equity with a smaller allocation to higher-yielding private credits.

“Now, individual investors can also gain exposure to private investments through our Private Markets Eltif, a fund specifically designed to meet their needs,” Barry Fricke, EMEA Head of Alternatives Distribution for Wealth at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, said. “Institutional investors have long benefited from private investments, which offer higher returns, portfolio diversification, and access to unique opportunities.”

Adjustments in EU regulations earlier this year have led to increased activity in the international Eltif market, with Luxembourg emerging as a domicile of choice for many issuers. Luxembourg lawyers expect more than 20 new Eltif funds to be issued during the coming months. Schroders and BlackRock also are among those have issued new Eltifs earlier this year.

Goldman’s fund portfolio composition is expected to reflect the most active areas of deal flow, targeting attractive sectors and strategies in the evolving investment landscape. It is designed for affluent investors seeking long-term illiquid investments and will be fully funded upon introduction, featuring a short investment period.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s alternatives platform consists of over 1,000 dedicated investment professionals who leverage the firm’s extensive resources. Led by an experienced global team, the platform combines local presence in markets across the US, Europe, and Asia with global insights and capabilities in various sectors.
