Senior private banker Alexandre Schmitz has left Degroof Petercam Luxembourg to join the Luxembourg operation of Lazard Frères Gestion, a French asset management firm which has offered wealth management services in Luxembourg since 2021.
Schmitz will join Lazare’s Luxembourg team as “director – senior private banker”.
“Alexandre’s arrival marks our desire to strengthen our presence in the local market,” said Julien Thibault-Liger, managing director of the firm in Luxembourg.
Client base development
Schmitz, who holds a Master’s degree in Management Engineering from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, has spent over 25 years in Luxembourg’s financial sector. He will be responsible for developing the firm’s client base both in Luxembourg and internationally.
At Degroof Petercam, he was head of private banking business development for 12 years, covering private equity and sustainable investing.
Lazard describes itself as one of the world’s “preeminent financial advisory and asset management firms” and has operations in 41 cities in 26 countries in the developed world”. The company is the asset management arm of the Lazard Group in France, specialising in investing in listed securities, with over 100 asset management analysts.
