During a annual general meeting in Amsterdam on Friday, Sandro Pierri, CEO of BNP Paribas Asset Management, was elected as the President of European fund and asset management association EFAMA for a two-year term until June 2025. Pierri, who has been the CEO of BNP Paribas Asset Management since 2021, brings over 30 years of experience in leadership roles within the asset management industry, including his previous role as the CEO of Pioneer Investments.
Massimo Greco, Vice-Chair Asset Management EMEA at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, was elected as EFAMA’s Vice-President. Greco, who has been Vice-Chair Asset Management EMEA since earlier this year, boasts 25 years of senior leadership experience at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and has previously served two terms as an EFAMA Board member.
Expressing his honor at being elected as EFAMA President, Pierri highlighted the importance of regulation in the industry, particularly in the face of strategic transitions such as retail investment strategy, sustainable finance, and technology. Pierri emphasized EFAMA’s crucial role in building a European Capital Markets Union that serves clients, European savers, and supports the transition to a net-zero economy.
“Our industry needs clear rules that allow fund and asset management companies to operate efficiently throughout the Union and beyond and I am truly committed to ensure the voice of our industry is heard at European and international levels,” he said.
Pierri takes over the role from Naïm Abou-Jaoudé, CEO of New York Life Investment Management, who served as EFAMA President since 2021. Tanguy van de Werve, Director General at EFAMA, thanked Abou-Jaoudé for his contributions during his presidency, commending him as a driving force and advocate for asset managers.
