This week’s overview of transfers, appointments, promotions and other people news includes updates from ABBL, Schroders, Clifford Chance, Tidan Capital and Schroders.

Yves Stein

Yves Stein (photo), CEO of Edmond de Rothschild (Europe),  has been elected as new chairman of the Board of Directors of the Luxembourg banking association ABBL. He takes over from Guy Hoffmann, who held the post since 2018.

Stein began his career at Banque Générale du Luxembourg before serving as group CEO of private banking at Fortis and director-general at BNP Paribas (Switzerland). In 2010, he became CEO of UBP (Europe) SA in Luxembourg at Union Bancaire Privée, later advancing to group CEO and president of the board at KBL European Private Bankers.

Magnus Linder

Magnus Linder has been appointed as the new portfolio manager at Swedish fund boutique Tidan Capital, where he will oversee the launch of a market-neutral volatility and options arbitrage strategy named Nova. 

This new strategy is scheduled to debut this summer as a bespoke mandate for a major US institutional investor, with a commingled fund set to follow in the third quarter within Tidan’s RAIF structure in Luxembourg, backed by seed capital from a Swedish family office. Prior to joining Tidan Capital, Linder spent 13 years at Swedbank Robur, leading Portfolio Optimization and Derivatives Trading. He managed derivatives trading, exposure optimization, and portfolio hedging, while also working closely with major exchanges like Nasdaq, EUREX, and CME, particularly on the launch of ESG derivatives.

Katharina Creutz, Boika Deleva, and Antoine-David Freymann

Katharina Creutz, Boika Deleva, and Antoine-David Freymann have been appointed as Counsel at Clifford Chance Luxembourg, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to strengthening its global client services. 

Katia Gauzès-Philip, Managing Partner of the Luxembourg office, emphasised the importance of these appointments in fostering talent and enhancing the firm’s capability to deliver superior services and solutions to its clients. 

Alex Tedder and Simon Webber

Alex Tedder has been named as co-head of equities at Schroders. He will lead the equities business alongside Rory Bateman while Mark Lacey has been appointed head of thematic equities and Simon Webber has been promoted to head of global equities.

 Tedder is a veteran investor with over 25 years’ experience investing in global equity markets. He will oversee the global, quantitative and developed market investment desks while the Asian and Emerging Markets investment teams will continue to report into Bateman.

In this new role, Tedder will also retain his portfolio management responsibilities, underscoring his commitment to leadership and investment management.

Webber will provide both investment and leadership, leveraging his extensive experience as part of his expanded role. He joined Schroders in 1999 and has built strong expertise across a range of global markets and sectors spanning technology, industrials, utilities, autos, telecoms, and consumer discretionary.
