This week’s overview of transfers, appointments, promotions and other career news includes updates from Generali, the University of Luxembourg, Euroclear, La Française and DLA Piper.

Dirk Zetzsche

Professor Dirk Zetzsche (photo) of the University of Luxembourg has been appointed as a member of the consultative working group on investment management at the European Securities and Markets Authority, Esma.

Professor Zetzsche is full professor in financial law and ADA chair in financial law and inclusive finance. His application was accepted following Esma’s call for expressions of interest. The CWG membership is renewable every three years. 

The appointment places Professor Zetzsche at the forefront of discussions concerning investment fund matters within Esma reinforcing Luxembourg’s pivotal role in European regulatory affairs.

Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association

At its board meeting on 2 July, the Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, LPEA, five new excutive committee members were elected. The newly elected members are Yannick Arbaut (A&O Shearman), Nick Tabone (Deloitte), Jérôme Wittame (Expon Capital), Hind El Gaidi (Intermediate Capital Group - ICG) and Claude de Raismes (Wendel Luxembourg).

Besides these six, the LPEA’s executive committee also includes President Claus Mansfeldt (Swancap Investment Management), Vice President Hans-Jürgen Schmitz, Giuliano Bidoli (BC Partners), Gautier Laurent (Cinven), Gilles Dusemon (Arendt & Medernach), and Stéphane Pesch (LPEA).

At the meeting, Laurent Capolaghi (EY) was named vice president; Yannick Arbaut (A&O Shearman) as secretary; and Nick Tabone (Deloitte) as treasurer. With 554 members as of 1 July, LPEA plays a leading role in discussions and the development of the ecosystem and actively promotes the industry beyond the country’s borders.

Carlo Trabattoni

Carlo Trabattoni has been appointed as chair of the board of directors of Generali Real Estate S.p.A. SGR (GRE SGR), following the group’s new organisational structure revealed on 18 April. GRE SGR is Generali’s company dedicated to managing real estate investment funds.

Aldo Mazzocco, CEO of Generali Real Estate S.p.A., will also take on the role of Vice Chair of GRE SGR.

In addition to his new role, Trabattoni will serve as Chair of the Board of Directors of Generali Investments Luxembourg S.A., the product factory of Generali Investments Holding S.p.A. He will continue to hold his position as a member of the Board of Directors of Plenisfer Investments S.p.A. SGR.

DLA Piper

Law firm DLA Piper has announced the promotion of six staff members at its Luxembourg office.

Emre Akan, Bahya Bouharati, and Yann Zellet have been elevated to the position of counsel, while Clément Bourdon, Céline Curatol, and Cyril Poels have been appointed as senior associates.

Sébastien Danloy

Sébastien Danloy has been appointed as chief business officer at Euroclear  from mid-September 2024, subject to regulatory approval.

Danloy will lead the group’s client and business strategy divisions which comprise its commercial, client insight and marketing, product development, innovation and client experience activities. The Brussels-based firm said this function plays a vital role in the implementation of Euroclear’s client-centric business strategy, and vision to be a digital and data-enabled financial market infrastructure group.

An industry veteran, Danloy joins Euroclear from BNP Paribas Securities Services where he was global head of sales and relationship management for institutional investors. His prior experiences include senior positions at HSBC Bank plc, RBC Investor Services Bank SA, and Société Générale Securities Services.

Antoine Le Treut

Antoine Le Treut has joined La Française Real Estate Managers as Deputy Managing Director in charge of the Institutional Division for France.

Le Treut succeeds David Rendall, who will focus on developing La Française Real Estate Managers’ international real estate business. Since joining La Française in 2014, Rendall has spearheaded the expansion of international real estate asset management, including establishing a presence in Seoul and Singapore. 

Le Treut, 42, will pursue the development of the real estate management mandate offering and more generally distribution activities with institutional investors in France. He began his career at Unibail Rodamco in 2005 as Investment Manager and was later named Corporate Retail Operations Director. Le Treut is a graduate of the Essec Business School.
