This week’s overview of transfers, appointments and promotions includes updates from M&G and Fidelity.
Kathy Ryan
Kathy Ryan (photo) has been appointed as chief sustainability officer at M&G plc. She joins from Irish Life Investment Management, where she was head of responsible investment.
M&G, an international savings and investment business whose continental European operations are run from Luxembourg, said Ryan will lead the group’s sustainability strategy, “embedding sustainability across the business and helping to drive real-world positive change by acting as a responsible long-term investor.”
At Irish Life, Ryan built and led a team of ESG specialists to advance ESG integration and stewardship across asset classes. In addition, she improved sustainable best practice across industry and chaired the CDP Ireland Network, launched the 30% Investor Initiative Ireland on Diversity and contributed to Ireland’s Climate Action Plan.
Ryan will join on 13 November and report to M&G plc’s chief financial officer, Kathryn McLeland.
Phil Cliff and Aaron Hay
Phil Cliff and Aaron Hay are joining the sustainability team at Fidelity International. Cliff joins as director, sustainable investing with a focus on climate integration and Aaron Hay joins as director, sustainable investing with a focus on ESG integration within the firm’s private credit strategies. Both will be based in London.
“The sustainability landscape is evolving at an ever-increasing pace,” said Jenn-Hui Tan, chief sustainability officer at Fidelity. “In order to ensure we are at the forefront of this change, we continue to invest in talent to drive innovation and best practice at Fidelity. Phil and Aaron have extensive experience in their respective fields of knowledge and will add bench strength to the ESG team’s existing deep global expertise.”
Cliff was previously head of climate at M&G, where he spearheaded the climate strategy and transition plan, including the creation of the firm’s net zero investment framework, portfolio analytics tool, scenario modelling and climate reporting. He has over 20 years’ of investment experience, including as an equity fund manager, having previously worked at firms including Threadneedle Asset Management and Skandia Life.
Hay joins from Federated Hermes Limited where he was responsible for investee stewardship, sustainable and impact investment strategy and implementation, and co-managing a growing sustainable fixed income team.
Hay will lead the development and execution of the sustainable investing strategy for Fidelity’s private credit capabilities, collaborating closely with the firm’s investment professionals to ensure consistent, robust and effective integration of ESG throughout the investment process.
