Lars Edler
Dr. Lars Edler (photo) has been appointed group managing director of Scope Fund Analysis. Since July 1, Edler has been leading the fund analysis division of the European rating agency Scope, aiming to expand the Scope fund analysis across Europe.
Edler oversees the two major analytical areas: mutual funds, led by Barbara Claus, and alternative investment funds, headed by Sonja Knorr. With over two decades of experience in the fund industry, Edler previously worked at Sal. Oppenheim in roles such as head of asset allocation, head of investment strategy, and co-chief investment officer. He also served as chief investment officer and managing director at HQ Asset Management.
“Scope Fund Analysis has a unique market position in analysing alternative investment funds and a strong presence in mutual funds. We aim to further develop structures, methodologies, and processes to grow profitably,” said Edler in a statement. ”Additionally, communication and interaction with clients and market participants will be of great importance to me.”
Florian Schoeller, CEO and founder of Scope Group, added, “With recognition from the ECB, Scope is established as a European alternative to US agencies in credit ratings. With Lars Edler, we will gradually offer our fund and asset manager ratings across Europe, making Scope a European rating alternative in all analytical areas.”

Alexandre Ecker
Lexicographer Alexandre Ecker has been appointed to lead the Zenter fir d’Lëtzebuerger Sprooch, the centre for the promotion of the Luxembourg language. The government approved his appointment last Wednesday, following the recommendation of culture minister Eric Thill.
Ecker will take over from Luc Marteling, who left the post after five years to become head of information at RTL. Pierre Reding, the Commissioner for the Luxembourgish Language, has been serving as the interim head since May.
Ecker, who has studied at various universities across Europe including Paris-Sorbonne, the University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology, Aix-Marseilles University, and St. Martin’s College in London, is one of the few lexicographers in Luxembourg.
