
This week’s overview of people transfers and appointments includes updates from Apex Group, EY Luxembourg, DWS Group, Aberdeen, Coutts, CMS Luxembourg, GAM and HSBC Asset Management.
Apex Group
John Amberg has been appointed as chief compliance officer by Apex Group. He will be based in New York. The “appointment reflects our continued focus on excellence in governance, risk, and compliance,” said Peter Hughes, founder and CEO of Apex Group.
Apex Group is a leading global financial services provider. The group provides a broad range of services, including capital raising, business and corporate management, administration, ESG, capital markets and transactions support.
EY Luxembourg
EY Luxembourg has appointed Nicolas Bannier as chief operating officer, following the promotion of Alban Aubrée to country managing partner on 1 July 2025.
Bannier has been with the firm for 25 years and was made partner in 2012. He most recently led EY’s wealth and asset management practice and currently serves on the board of directors of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (Alfi).
Coutts
Anne Richards has been named chair of Coutts, the private banking arm of NatWest Group. She succeeds in the role after stepping down as chief executive of Fidelity International in 2024 and currently serves as the firm’s vice chair.
Richards previously held senior roles at M&G Investments, Aberdeen Asset Management, Mercury Asset Management, and JPMorgan. Her appointment was announced by Rick Haythornthwaite, chair of NatWest Group.
CMS Luxembourg
Law firm CMS Luxembourg has named Aurélie Marcassoli as head of human resources. She joins from Arendt & Medernach, where she spent over ten years in strategic HR roles.
At CMS, Marcassoli will focus on driving HR development and supporting the firm’s growth. Her appointment is part of the firm’s broader effort to strengthen its people strategy.
GAM
GAM Investments has appointed Karim Carmoun as managing director to lead its activities in France, Benelux and Monaco. He will be based in Paris and report to Tim Rainsford, the firm’s incoming group chief distribution officer, who rejoins GAM in October.
Carmoun was previously chief executive of Robeco France and has held senior roles at Fidelity International, Crédit Agricole, and BNP Paribas.
Aberdeen
Menno de Vreeze returns to Aberdeen as head of Latin America and US offshore distribution, he announced on Linkedin. He started in his new role this month and is based in Miami. De Vreeze rejoined Aberdeen after spending just over a year and a half at TMF Group. “Grateful to TMF Group for the invaluable experience,” he wrote on Linkedin. Prior to that, he worked at Aberdeen, from 2011 to 2024.
DWS Group
Daan Cuperus has started as coverage specialist Benelux at DWS Group (Deutsche Asset Management) this month. He stated this on Linkedin a few weeks ago. He comes from ABN Amro MeesPierson, where he worked for five years as investment advisor. Before that he was data research associate at the Foundation for Auditing Research.
DWS has also appointed chief investment officer Vincenzo Vedda to its executive board. Vedda, who became CIO in 2024, will oversee the firm’s liquid business.
The move marks a return of the CIO role to the executive board. DWS CEO Stefan Hoops said Vedda brings strong client focus and performance orientation to the group’s capital markets strategy.
HSBC Asset Management
HSBC Asset Management has appointed Isabelle Bourcier as chief executive for continental Europe. She will oversee the firm’s operations in France, Germany, Malta and Switzerland.
Bourcier was previously CEO of HSBC AM in France, a role she took on after joining from BNP Paribas Asset Management in 2022. Her earlier experience includes positions at Ossiam, Société Générale, and Lyxor.
