Asset services provider Apex Group has appointed Loïc Choquet as chief executive officer of Apex Fund Services S.A. in Luxembourg, subject to regulatory approval. He succeeds Frank de Wit, who will become global head of multinational corporate within the group.
Choquet joins from Aztec Group, where he served as head of Luxembourg and chair of the management board. He previously held senior roles at J.P. Morgan and HSBC and brings more than 20 years of experience in fund services, banking and operations.
NBIM
The world’s biggest pension fund, Norges Bank Investment Management, has appointed Patrick du Plessis as chief risk officer, effective April 1. He succeeds Dag Huse, who has stepped down from the leadership group and will take on a role focusing on geopolitical risk.
Du Plessis previously served as global head of risk monitoring at the fund, where he was responsible for analysing and reporting investment risk and return. He has worked at the organisation since 2001 and has held senior roles across financial analysis, performance analytics and benchmark management.
L&G
L&G has appointed Emiel van den Heiligenberg as chief investment officer for its asset management business, subject to regulatory approval. He will lead the firm’s global investment platform, overseeing strategy across public markets, fixed income, research and responsible investment.
Van den Heiligenberg has more than 30 years of investment experience and has spent the past 12 years leading L&G’s multi-asset business. He built a team of more than 65 investment professionals managing over 100 billion pounds. The appointment is part of a broader strengthening of L&G’s investment leadership as it focuses on long-term global growth.
New management at Generali AM
Generali Asset Management has proposed the appointment of Russell Büsst as chief executive officer, alongside Filippo Casagrande as general manager in a newly created role. Both appointments are subject to approval and are expected to take effect at the end of April 2026, when current chief executive Bruno Servant’s mandate concludes.
Büsst currently serves as chief executive officer and chief investment officer for the European operations of Conning, part of Generali Investments. Casagrande is chief of investments at Generali Investments and chair of Generali Investments Luxembourg. The firm said the changes are intended to strengthen it’s focus on global institutional and pension clients and support its growth strategy.
HSBC names CEO for Swiss private bank
HSBC has appointed Alfonso Gómez as chief executive officer of its Swiss private bank and country head of Switzerland, effective April 27. He succeeds Daniel Calado, who held the role on an interim basis and will return to his position as chief financial officer for HSBC Private Bank Switzerland and EMEA.
Gómez joins from BBVA Switzerland, where he served as chief executive officer for more than 12 years. He brings over 30 years of experience in international wealth management, with previous roles across New York, London, Madrid and Zurich. HSBC said Switzerland remains a key hub in its global wealth strategy.
Amundi
Amundi has appointed Claire Cornil as chief operating officer, effective April 1, 2026. She joins the firm’s general management committee in the role.
Cornil was previously chief executive officer of Société Générale Gestion, a position she held since 2023 after serving as deputy chief executive officer. Earlier, she worked at Amundi in structured solutions and held roles at Crédit Agricole Structured Asset Management and CACIB, where she began her career in risk and capital markets.
Vistra creates chief AI role
Asset services provider Vistra has appointed Damian Leach as chief AI and digital officer, a newly created role based in Singapore. He will focus on advancing the firm’s digital and artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance client experience and global service delivery.
Leach brings more than 20 years of experience in technology and digital transformation. He previously served as global chief information officer at Seaco and held senior technology roles in global banking and at a Fortune 500 software company.
