
This week’s overview of people transfers and appointments in and around Luxembourg includes updates from Capitalatwork, Apex Group, EY Luxembourg, Partners Group, and Northern Trust.
New leadership for Capitalatwork in Benelux
Wealth manager Capitalatwork has marked its 35th anniversary in 2025 with a transition in its senior leadership. The firm has announced a new management structure across its Benelux operations, to be split into separate entities for Luxembourg on one side, and Belgium and the Netherlands on the other side.
Maarten Rooijakkers will step down from his role as chief executive officer and will continue to be involved in the firm’s strategic development. He will be succeeded by Jean Ceppetelli, who has been with Capitalatwork Foyer Group SA for the past 16 months as chief operating officer and has also served as interim CEO.
Ceppetelli has a background in private banking and investment management and will now formally take on the role of CEO of Capitalatwork Foyer Group SA, overseeing operations in Luxembourg. He will be supported by Grégory Vandendael (head of business development), Pierre-Henry Oger (head of investment management and funds coordination), and Sylvie Lanari (head of compliance and risk management).
In Belgium and the Netherlands, Anouk Schouppe will become CEO of Capitalatwork SA. Her leadership team includes Vincent Lambrecht (deputy CEO), Erwin Deseyn (chief investment officer), Gaël Wijngaard (chief operations officer), and Eric Decocq (head of compliance and risk management).
Bashir to drive cybersecurity strategy at Apex
Apex Group has named Azeem Bashir as its new Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), tasking him with leading the firm’s global cybersecurity efforts at a time of accelerating digital transformation and mounting cyber risk across the financial sector.
Bashir brings more than 25 years of cybersecurity leadership experience across investment and retail banking, blockchain, crypto, tokenization, energy, and critical infrastructure. He has advised governments and regulators worldwide, led incident responses, and managed large-scale transformation programmes across EMEA and APAC.
In his new role, Bashir will be responsible for developing and executing Apex Group’s enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy. His priorities will include enhancing threat detection and response capabilities, setting robust security policies, overseeing global technology risk, and leading IT audits and assurance.
EY Luxembourg appoints 18 new partners
EY Luxembourg has promoted 18 professionals to the rank of partner, effective 1 July 2025, marking one of the highest numbers of partner appointments in the firm’s recent history. The new cohort reflects a diverse range of expertise across Strategy and Transactions, Tax, and Assurance.
In Strategy and Transactions, Grégoire d’Avout and Kevin Merzougui have been appointed partners in the Transactions and Corporate Finance practice. The Tax service line sees the promotion of Hélène Crepin, Eduardo Isidro, and Jean-Bernard Dussert within International Tax and Transaction Services, along with Leila Fohler-Haid in People Advisory Services, and Alexander Kirschweng and Andreas Pax in Global Compliance and Reporting.
The assurance division has seen a broad set of promotions spanning several sectors. Laura Sierra Alonso steps up in Technology, Media and Telecommunications; Madjid Boukhelifa in Wealth & Asset Management; Caroline Nicoletti in IFRS and LuxGAAP; and François Rey in the Commercial and Private Sector. Francis Goddard joins the leadership team in Financial Accounting Advisory Services, while Nano Mamageishvili and Nicolas Tinant are promoted within Private Equity and Infrastructure. Rounding out the appointments in the real estate sector are Razvan Mara, Rafael Escher, and Saad Siddiqui.
Partners names Amoroso chief investment strategist
Partners Group has appointed Anastasia Amoroso as managing director and chief investment strategist for its private wealth and retirement business, as the firm continues to expand its leadership team to support growing demand for private markets access among individual investors and wealth advisors.
Based in New York, Amoroso will provide macroeconomic, private markets, and portfolio management insights tailored to the needs of wealth clients. She joins from iCapital, where she spent four years as chief investment strategist, and previously held senior investment roles at J.P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch. She will begin her new role at the end of June.
Northern Trust appoints McCabe to lead OCIO strategy
Northern Trust has named Katherine McCabe as the new leader of its Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) strategy within the asset servicing business unit. In this newly established role, McCabe will focus on deepening strategic relationships with OCIO firms and the broader investment consultant community. She will report directly to Melanie Pickett, head of asset servicing for the Americas.
McCabe brings more than three decades of experience in the asset owner space, having held senior roles across sales, strategy, consulting relations, and analytics. Most recently, she served as head of U.S. asset owner and Canadian sales at State Street Bank & Trust Company. Her earlier career includes more than 25 years at BNY Mellon, where she built a strong track record in performance measurement and risk analysis, supporting institutional clients across North America.
