This week’s overview of transfers and appointments includes news from Lombard Odier, Waystone, Allianz Global Investors, Stepstone, Stibbe, AKD Luxembourg and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Jessica Rabut and Stephane Herrmann 

Stephane Herrmann and Jessica Rabut have been appointed to new leadership roles within Lombard Odier’s private clients unit, effective 1 January 2025. The changes follow the decision of Daniel Elias, current chief operating officer of the private clients unit, to leave the group in 2025 to pursue new opportunities.

Rabut has been appointed CEO of Lombard Odier Europe after having served as deputy-CEO since January last year. She will be based in Luxembourg and join the private clients executive committee, and will report to Frédéric Rochat, managing partner and co-head of the unit. Rabut’s appointment highlights Lombard Odier’s emphasis on promoting internal talent to key leadership positions.

Herrmann, currently CEO of Lombard Odier Europe, will take on the role of chief operating officer for the private clients unit. Based in Geneva, Herrmann will remain a member of the private clients executive committee, also reporting to Rochat. Herrmann joined Lombard Odier in 2019 as COO of Lombard Odier Europe and became CEO in 2022.

Alaina Danley

Waystone has appointed Alaina Danley as its Cayman Country Head, a role she assumes after more than 12 years with the firm in various senior positions.

Danley brings over 20 years of investment management experience spanning North America and the Cayman Islands. Before joining Waystone, she worked at Bain Capital and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston. She is a Registered Director with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the Cayman Islands Directors Association and 100 Women in Finance.

Based in the Cayman Islands, Danley will oversee Waystone’s operations as the firm continues its growth trajectory. She also serves on the Executive Committee of AIMA Cayman and was recognised as one of Hedge Fund Journal’s ‘50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds’ in 2021.

Willem Herman van der Wal 

Willem Herman van der Wal has been appointed managing director business development at Stepstone Group. In his new role, Van der Wal will focus on fostering relationships and expanding Stepstone Group’s presence in the Benelux and Nordic regions. Stepstone is a global private markets specialist offering investment solutions and data-driven insights.

Pascal Mouthaan 

Pascal Mouthaan has joined Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) as director business development for wholesale clients in the Benelux.

Reporting to Jeroen Vrancken, head of wholesale Benelux, Mouthaan brings extensive experience to the role. He previously served as director business development at Robeco Asset Management, where he started in 2006.

Mouthaan began his career as an investment advisor at Rabobank in 1996 and later became senior wealth manager at Robeco Direct in 2004.

Christophe Martin-Raynaud

Christophe Martin-Raynaud has been promoted to counsel at Stibbe Luxembourg’s tax practice. Specialising in national and international tax law, Martin-Raynaud provides structuring and transactional advice to a diverse range of clients. His expertise has been instrumental in supporting multinationals, financial institutions, and investment entities with complex tax matters, the firm said.

Marie-Aimé Cochet 

Marie-Aimé Cochet joins law firm AKD Luxembourg as junior associate in the investment funds team. Having studied at Maastricht University and the University of Amsterdam, Cochet is currently completing her CCDL training to qualify as a lawyer in Luxembourg. She focuses on assisting fund managers with the complexities of fund formation, restructuring, and regulatory compliance.

Miljan Zdrale

Miljan Zdrale has been appointed regional director for central Europe at the EBRD, effective 1 January 2025. In his new role, Zdrale will oversee operations in Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, the Slovak Republic, and Slovenia, while also serving as Head of Croatia, where he will be based. He succeeds Mark Davis, who has been appointed managing director for the southern and eastern Mediterranean region.

Zdrale, currently regional head of agribusiness for southeastern Europe, joined the EBRD in 2002 and has worked across municipal infrastructure, transport, and tourism projects. Since 2006, he has been part of the agribusiness team, advancing from principal banker to regional head in 2015.

Christophe Langenbrink

Christophe Langenbrink has joined the Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy at the government of Luxembourg as media expert.

Langenbrink previously worked at Luxembourg’s Ministry of Labour, where he served as delegate for International and European Relations. In his new role, he will focus on media-related strategies and policies.
