
This week’s overview of people transfers and appointments includes updates from Schroders, Amundi, IBS Capital Allies, Partners Group, and Luxembourg industry associations Alfi and LPEA.
Szenberg named executive vice-chair at Schroders
Schroders has announced four senior leadership appointments aimed at reinforcing its client-first strategy and expanding global client engagement.
Karine Szenberg, currently global head of client group, has been named executive vice chair and will remain on the group executive committee. In her new role, she will focus on accelerating Schroders’ strategic partnerships and strengthening ties with joint ventures and affiliates.
Matt Oomen joins from BNY Investments as the new global head of client group, reporting to Richard Oldfield. With over 30 years in the industry and 23 years at BNY/Mellon, Oomen brings deep expertise in global distribution and will also join the group executive committee.
Maaike Decoster moves from Blackrock to Amundi
Maaike Decoster has joined Amundi from Blackrock, taking on a global role overseeing business development, client strategy, and investment solutions. She will be based in both Brussels and Paris. During her time at Blackrock, Decoster held various positions; over the past year, she was responsible for partnerships in the wealth segment across the EMEA region.
Christian Schulz joins AllianzGI as chief economist
Allianz Global Investors has appointed Christian Schulz as its new chief economist, effective 1 July 2025. Based in Frankfurt, Schulz will lead the firm’s global economics and strategy team, delivering macroeconomic research and market insights to support investment positioning and client engagement. He will report to Michael Krautzberger, CIO public markets at AllianzGI.
Roel Reijnen joins IBS Capital Allies
Roel Reijnen started in June as Head of Wealth Management for Southeast Netherlands at IBS Capital Allies. In this role, he will be responsible for expanding the firm’s presence in the southern and eastern regions of the Netherlands. Reijnen previously worked at ABN Amro MeesPierson, most recently serving as director for the Den Bosch, Nijmegen, and Arnhem offices.
Jean-Marc Goy re-elected as chairperson of Alfi
The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (Alfi) has re-elected Jean-Marc Goy as chairperson for a second term. The announcement was made on 17 June following Alfi’s annual general meeting. Goy, who was first elected chair in 2023, will now serve another two-year term.
A long-time contributor to Alfi’s technical committees and working groups, Goy has been a member of the board of directors since 2019 and served as vice-chairperson from 2021 to 2023.
Albaz to lead new Partners regional HQ in Abu Dhabi
Swiss-based Partners Group, one of the world’s largest private markets investment firms, has appointed Suhail Albaz as chairman for the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia. He will head the firm’s newly established regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi, reflecting the group’s deepening commitment to the region.
The firm is also scaling up its private wealth business, led regionally by Venugopal Reddy, and continues to work closely with leading institutional investors under the direction of Nael Antaki, head of institutional clients Middle East.
Partners Group said it sees the Middle East as a strategic growth area, with Albaz tasked with expanding the firm’s network of institutional clients and investment partnerships in the region. The move complements the firm’s long-standing Dubai presence, opened in 2010, and supports a portfolio of companies employing over 2,000 people in the region.
LPEA elects ten new board members
The Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LPEA) has announced the election of ten members to its 30-member board of directors, following the association’s annual one-third board renewal.
Among the full members (investors and fund managers), Cinven, represented by Gautier Laurent, Oakley Capital, represented by Marianne Spanos, and Stonehage Fleming, represented by Raphael Eber, were (re)elected. Seven associate members, representing advisers and service providers, also joined the board: Bruno Bagnouls of Alter Domus, Adrian Aldinger of Arendt & Medernach, Diogo Duarte de Oliveira of Baker & McKenzie, Lucienne Andring of Banque de Luxembourg, Katia Gauzes of Clifford Chance, Laurent Capolaghi of EY Luxembourg, and Valerie Tixier of PwC.
The LPEA board plays a central role in guiding the strategic direction of Luxembourg’s private equity and venture capital landscape. LPEA is due to announce a new president in the coming weeks. The term of the existing president Claus Mansfeldt is about to end.
