EY Luxembourg on Friday said it has named Fernando Longares as its new leader for the Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) sector, Longares will succeed Gaël Denis, who will become chief operating officer at the firm.
Longares joined EY in 2006 and has served as partner in EY’s international tax practice since 2016. Denis has been an assurance partner in the Luxembourg office for more than 10 years and has led the TMT & FinTech practices for the last five years.
“Technology is transforming our clients’ businesses globally, creating significant opportunities,” Longares said in a statement. “From planning their business transformation to choosing the right technology and realizing the expected business outcome, our active participation becomes integral.”
“TMT is an area which has thrived for the last decade and made it throughout the pandemic with even more strength. It never stops transforming. I trust that Fernando and his extensive experience will continue building on the unlimited opportunities and resources of the sector,” Denis said.
A number of global firms in the TMT industry, including Amazon, have opted for a presence in Luxembourg in recent decades. London is seen as a pioneer, EY said, and has been playing a historical role in the TMT sector, as well as space and innovation in general.
