This week’s overview of transfers and appointments includes appointments at Apex Group and at EY.

Stephen Geddes

Stephen Geddes (photo) has been appointed as regional head for the United Kingdom at global asset services provider Apex Group.  He joined Apex from Mainspring Fund Services, where he was the founder and CEO. Apex acquired Mainspring in September last year.

The addition of Mainspring, which added 70 experts serving client assets of 10.5 billion pounds assets under administration, has deepened Apex’s provision of outsourced fund administration services to small and medium-sized venture fund managers, as well as adding notable new custody and nominee administration services for private assets.

Geddes founded Mainspring in 2010, having spent eight years as COO at Pi Capital. In this operational role, he gained valuable insight into the challenges of operating a fast-growing private equity fund manager, from leading the finance, HR and IT functions to structuring funds and managing investor relations for several hundred investors.

Apex’s UK operations employs about 600 people, about half the number it employs in Luxembourg and compared to about 10.000 people worldwide.

Anthony Cannella

Anthony Cannella has been appointed as the leader for the technology, media and telecoms practice at EY Luxembourg, replacing Fernando Longares.

Cannella in recent years has coordinated audit teams in several international EY offices for multi-location audits, advising engagement teams on technical matters and building relationships throughout the firm’s global organization.

He is also the leader of EYnovation, EY Luxembourg’s program which supports startups and entrepreneurs.

New recruits

EY Luxembourg said it has surpassed the milestone of 2,000 employees by welcoming 350 new recruits by October. Young graduates and experienced professionals have been welcomed during an integration day which took place on 15 September in Kirchberg.
