Romain Swertvaeger has been appointed as head of fintech at EY Luxembourg. He takes over from Gaël Denis, who earlier was appointed as chief operating officer at the firm.

Swertvaeger will lead EY’s fintech practice, which provides services ranging from digital transformation, process management, regulatory compliance and audit, fundraising and valuation support, to tax services and technology risk management.

“While banks are increasingly using and integrating development and service solutions offered by fintechs, fintechs are reinventing financial services through innovative digital solutions, expanding their value chain continuously,” he said.

Data and regulation

“By bringing together the expertise from the mostly data-driven technology sector and the more regulatory-driven banking sector, our teams are creating the digital future of financial services, together with innovators, institutions and investors.”

As partner at EY Luxembourg, Swertvaeger has 13 years of experience in auditing companies in the technology and e-commerce industries. He played a major role in the development of the Fintech practice, embracing the transformation of e-commerce and e-payment activities within EY’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications department. During the past years, he specialized in payments, cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

In February of this year, EY Luxembourg merged its teams dedicated to banking and fintech.
