This week’s overview of transfers, appointments, promotions and other career news in the international fund and asset management community includes updates from Degroof Petercam, Solidum and Lighthouse Canton.
Angeliki Kalligiannaki
Angeliki Kalligiannaki (photo) has been appointed as the new head of Greece for the Luxembourg-based European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Kalligiannaki, currently an associate director and senior banker in the Manufacturing and Services team at the EBRD, will begin her new role on 1 September. She succeeds Andreea Moraru, who was recently named the Bank’s regional director for Poland and the Baltic States.
A Greek national, Kalligiannaki joined the EBRD in 2013 and has held various positions within the Bank, including roles in risk management, treasury, and at the EBRD’s regional office in Warsaw before moving to Athens in 2016. Before her tenure at the EBRD, she worked as a quantitative analyst for S&P’s Capital IQ and in the derivatives valuation unit of the European Investment Bank.
In her current role, Kalligiannaki has significantly contributed to the EBRD’s operations in Greece, particularly in originating and closing a diverse range of projects and implementing the Greek Recovery and Resilience Facility Co-Financing Framework. She expressed her commitment to continuing the Bank’s efforts to support sustainable economic growth in Greece, emphasizing the importance of strong relationships with Greek authorities, corporations, and financial institutions.
Anne-Sophie Pype
Anne-Sophie Pype has been appointed managing director of the Degroof Petercam Foundation. Before joining Degroof Petercam, she was responsible for business development and global clients at Baker McKenzie. In her private life, she was already involved in several educational and sustainable development projects.
Pype has 15 years of international experience spanning Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Her expertise adds value to the foundation’s teams and programmes, both in Belgium and abroad. The Degroof Petercam Foundation was established more than 15 years ago and has grown into one of the ten largest foundations in Belgium.
Ulrich Behm
Dr. Ulrich Behm has been appointed as a partner at Solidum Partners AG, a Swiss independent investment manager specialising in catastrophe bonds and insurance-linked securities (ILS). In his new role, Behm will be responsible for sales and marketing for the company and its investment strategies.
Solidum Partners, founded in 2004 and fully owned by its partners, offers investment strategies such as the Ucits-compliant Solidum Cat Bond Fund, focused exclusively on catastrophe bonds, and the Solidum Event Linked Securities funds, which include private cat bonds and transformed reinsurance deals. The firm is one of the oldest ILS investment boutiques in Switzerland, with its flagship fund delivering a 5.7 percent per annum return since its inception in 2006.
Behm brings over 25 years of experience in asset management and financial markets, most of which he gained at Vontobel Asset Management, where he served as a board member and built a successful track record in business development. He began his career as a management consultant at McKinsey before moving to Vontobel five years later.
Stella Lau
Stella Lau has been appointed managing director of wealth advisory at Lighthouse Canton, a Singapore-based external asset manager. In her new role, Lau will focus on strengthening the firm’s client base and leading the growth strategy for North Asia. She brings over 20 years of private banking and leadership experience, having previously served as Greater China market group head at Deutsche Bank and holding senior roles at J.P. Morgan, UBS, and Credit Suisse. Several experienced bankers who have previously worked with Lau have also joined her team.
Charlene Lin has also been promoted to managing director of strategic growth for North and Southeast Asia at Lighthouse Canton. Lin, a founding member of the firm, has been instrumental in cultivating deep client relationships and significantly expanding the firm’s influence in the region.
Lighthouse Canton group CEO Shilpi Chowdhary expressed confidence in both Lau and Lin, noting their extensive experience and commitment to driving growth and innovation for the company.
Enric Battala Lopez
Enric Battala Lopez has been appointed as the national coach of the Luxembourg national padel team. Lopez, who began playing padel at the age of 11, expressed his gratitude for this opportunity in a post on Linkedin.
He also extended special thanks to Marcela Ferrari for her support and guidance over the past 10 years, as well as to Carles Giner and Celine François for their support in Luxembourg. Lopez looks forward to contributing to the development of padel in Luxembourg and is eager to begin his role with the national team.
