This week’s overview of transfers and appointments in and around Luxembourg includes updates from Goldman Sachs, Waystone, UBP, BLI.

Gert-Jan Verhagen

Gert-Jan Verhagen has been appointed head of Benelux Third Party Wealth at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, effective 1 February. The asset manager announced the appointment recently. Over the past four years, Verhagen served as CEO of Amundi Netherlands, and prior to that, he spent nearly six years as head of Sales for ETFs, Indexing & Smart Beta at Amundi. In that role, Verhagen secured the most significant mandate for Europe’s largest asset manager in 2019—the core portfolio passive investments mandate for Rabobank.

Earlier in his career, Verhagen spent five years at BlackRock, including as head of iShares Netherlands, and over ten years at Van Lanschot Bankiers, working in investment advisory and product management.

Klajdi Papadhimitri

Waystone has appointed Klajdi Papadhimitri as Managing Director, Continental Europe. He brings over fifteen years of expertise in fund distribution, regulatory compliance, and client-centric solutions. Papadhimitri will be based in Luxembourg and focus on enhancing Waystone’s service offering in the region. Prior to joining Waystone, Papadhimitri held senior leadership positions at Pictet Group and Big Four firms.

Steve Beckers

Steve Beckers is starting a new position as Senior Sales Belgium & Luxembourg at UBP - Union Bancaire Privée. He announced this on his LinkedIn page on monday. He started this month at the firm. Beckers came from PGIM, where he worked several years as Senior European Sales Manager Belgium & Luxembourg.

Sébastien Gandon

Sébastien Gandon has joined Banque de Luxembourg Investments as senior client portfoliomanager, according to a press release by BLI. Gandon has twenty years of experience in asset management. Previously based in Hong Kong, he was in charge of development and sales at Harvest Global Investments, the international branch of Harvest Fund Management, one of China’s largest asset managers. Prior to that, he was head of sales for Asia and Continental Europe at East Capital. He also worked at Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management.
