Jean-Marc Goy has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), the industry body announced on Monday following its annual general meeting. Goy is a board member at Capital Group Luxembourg. Before joining the firm in 2018 he served two decades at the grand duchy’s financial supervisor CSSF.
Goy, 52 years old, succeeds Corinne Lamesh, Fidelity’s country head who has served as Alfi Chairperson since 2019. Goy has served as a member of the ALFI Board of Directors since June 2019 and as Vice-Chairperson in 2021. Over the years, he has participated in several ALFI technical committees and working groups.
As an officer and board member of Capital Group’s Luxembourg management company, Goy possesses over 25 years of expertise in the Luxembourg fund industry. He said he was honoured to have been appointed as chair.
“Asset managers play a vital role in assisting investors in achieving their savings and financial objectives, all while fostering economic growth,” he said in a statement. “This leadership role will serve as a foundation for shaping the ALFI Ambition Paper, outlining our strategic vision for 2025-2030, which we aim to finalise in early 2024.”
Prior to his tenure at Capital Group, Goy served as the head of international affairs for the CSSF between 1998 and 2018. Goy also practised law at a prominent Luxembourg law firm from 1996 to 2018. At CSSF he was in charge of managing relations with foreign authorities in the field of investment funds.
He holds a Master’s degree in Law and a DEA from the University of Montpellier and is admitted as a lawyer to the Luxembourg Bar. Goy is proficient in Luxembourgish, German, French, English, and Spanish.
Goy’s tenure is effective immediately and is set to span a two-year period.
