BLI names head of asset management and COO

Banque de Luxembourg Investments (BLI) has appointed Marc Erpelding as head of asset management, taking over responsibility for the fund management teams from Guy Wagner. Wagner remains chief investment officer and will continue to manage the BL Global Flexible EUR fund alongside other mandates.

Erpelding, who joined Banque de Luxembourg in 2002 and moved to BLI’s equities team in 2007, will lead fund managers across asset classes including equities, bonds and multi-management. He will also continue to co-manage emerging markets equity funds, now alongside analyst Raphaël Fürst.

Erpelding “will be a key point of contact within BLI and for its various stakeholders,” said BLI CEO Fanny Nosetti-Perrot in a statement.

BLI has also appointed Quentin Gaget as chief operating officer. Gaget, who joined the bank in 2017 and most recently headed multi-asset trading, will focus on innovation, data strategy and operational collaboration in his new role. Both appointments are part of BLI’s broader development strategy as it adapts to technological and operational change.

FE fundinfo 

Maryam LongrusInvestment data firm FE fundinfo has appointed Maryam Longrus as head of private markets, a new role supporting the firm’s expansion into private capital through its Nexus platform. Based between Luxembourg and London, she will lead the development of data and technology solutions for asset and wealth managers investing in private equity, credit, debt, and real assets.

Longrus brings more than 20 years of financial services experience, with a focus on private markets and technology innovation. She is tasked with helping clients streamline operations and respond to growing investor and regulatory demands.

Swissquote Bank Europe 

Swissquote Bank Europe has named Jeppe Birk as chief financial officer, effective 3 November and pending CSSF approval. He will oversee finance, risk, and IT operations, reporting to CEO Dave Sparvell.

Birk previously held senior roles at Danske Bank and UBP in Luxembourg. His appointment follows continued growth at Swissquote, which manages 86 billion euro in assets and serves over 700,000 clients from its Kirchberg base.

Union Bancaire Privée

Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) has hired Giulio Piccoli as head of institutional clients for the Benelux. He joins from Janus Henderson Investors, where he spent ten years, most recently as director of sales for the region.

Piccoli started his career at Bloomberg and later worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. At UBP, which oversees 140 billion Swiss francs in assets, he will focus on strengthening institutional relationships in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Baillie Gifford 

Baillie Gifford has appointed Maarten de Lint as director of client relations and business development. Based in Amsterdam, he will support existing client relationships and help grow the firm’s presence in European markets.

The Edinburgh-based asset manager currently oversees 244 billion euro globally.

Mapfre Asset Management 

Madrid-based Mapfre AM has appointed Ismael García Puente as deputy director of investment strategy, a newly created role aimed at strengthening group-wide investment coordination.

With the firm since 2011, García Puente previously led investments at Mapfre Inversión. He will now oversee asset allocation, market analysis and specialist fund strategies, while continuing to lead the wealth manager network and life insurance portfolios.

Robeco 

Rotterdam-based Robeco has appointed Ruud Fransen as senior sales manager. He joins from Candriam, where he worked for seven years in client relationship management. Before that, he spent nearly 12 years at NN Investment Partners in business development.

Fransen began his career at the Dutch financial markets regulator AFM in the late 1990s, later moving into advisory roles at Robein and ING. His return to Robeco marks a new chapter in his long-standing industry career.

SFO Alliance

Jeroen Vetter has been appointed chief executive of the SFO Alliance, the global membership network for single family offices, according to Bloomberg. Vetter previously led Ardys, the family office of Dutch entrepreneur Rudolf Booker.

Earlier in his career, Vetter headed the investment office at Aegon Netherlands and held senior roles at Persist Global Wealth Management and SNS, where he founded SNS Fundcoach. The SFO Alliance admits only family offices with more than 400 million dollars in investable assets and claims over 1,500 members representing more than 1,100 family offices globally.
