Eliana de Abreu has put forward as managing director of Crédit Mutuel Asset Management, the firm’s parent company Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale has announced. Once the board has approved her appointment, De Abreu will be responsible for fund management and developing the range of investment solutions, based on an extra-financial expertise, consistent with the ambitions of a sustainable asset manager.

De Abreu, who joined Credit Mutuel nearly 22 years ago and until recently served as the firm’s chief investment officer,  will succeed Claire Bourgeois.

In her new capacity, De Abreu, should also join Groupe La Francaise, led by Guillaume Cadiou, as a member of the Executive Board. She will contribute to the creation of Credit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale’s asset management business line, under a multi-boutique model.

The new ensemble would become a major player in the French Asset Management landscape, representing 166 billion euro in assets under management, with a presence across Europe, active in Asia and offering a wide range of expertise including listed assets, real assets and alternative management.

“Eliana de Abreu, who has been with the asset manager since 2002, has made a major contribution to the development of Crédit Mutuel Asset Management’s extra financial expertise, a theme at the heart of the company’s development strategy. Eliana will be a major asset in supporting the development of our asset management business line,” said Daniel Baal, chief executive officer of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, in a statement.
