This week’s overview of transfers, appointments, promotions and other people news includes updates from DWS and Candriam.
Vera Fehling
Vera Fehling (photo) has been appointed as Chief Investment Officer Western Europe at DWS. She joined DWS in 2011 as a portfolio manager in the Euro IG Credit Team. In 2013, she transferred to Multi Asset & Solutions as a portfolio manager for Liability Driven Investments, where she took over significant blue chip client mandates. In 2021, she took over as Head of Liability Driven Investments and, in this capacity, continuously contributes to development of DWS Solutions business. She holds a diploma in mathematics from Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz.
Ivy Ng
Ivy Ng has been appointed as CIO for the Asia-Pacific region at DWS. She joined DWS in 2013 and is a senior portfolio manager covering Asia Ex Japan property markets. With a background as a financial journalist, investment magazine founder and an economic book author, she brings a different perspective to her role. Prior joining DWS, she was with LaSalle Investment Management. Ivy holds a BSc in psychology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and MA in business journalism from Columbia University.
Rafael Otero
Rafael Otero will join DWS as Chief Operating Officer in January. Angela Maragkopoulou will end her assignment as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of DWS by mutual agreement effective at the end of 2023 and move on to embrace new challenges.
Otero will report to Chief Financial Officer Markus Kobler, who, for the time being, will assume board responsibility for the Chief Operating Officer.
Grégoire Thomas
Grégoire Thomas has been appointed as Head of Equity Market Neutral at Candriam, within the Alternative Investments division. He brings over 20 years of industry experience at firms including Millennium, Bank of America and Société Générale, and has an in-depth expertise in index arbitrage and market neutral strategies.
Thomas will replace Emmanuel Terraz, Global Head of Absolute Return & Quantitative Equity, who will be leaving to embark on a new chapter in his career.
