EDB bolsters governance with new global role

European Depositary Bank, a Luxembourg-headquartered provider of banking, depositary and custody solutions that is part of the Apex Group, on Wednesday said it has appointed executive board member Holger Barth in a new role as global head of banking depositary. 

The appointment further bolsters EDB’s governance, which had been problematic for a number of years.

EDB to support Arab Bank’s real estate ambitions in Emea

European Depositary Bank, a Luxembourg-based provider of banking, depositary and custody solutions that is part of the Apex Group, on Monday said it has been appointed by Arab Bank to support its real-estate ambitions in the European, Middle East and Africa  region (Emea) with digital banking services.

EDB said it has been selected to provide services for 32 bank accounts for 14 special purpose vehicles as part of Arab Bank’s 400 million euro pan-European real estate strategy.

Apex buys Bank of America’s Irish depositary business

Apex Group on Monday said it plans to acquire the Irish depositary business of Bank of America Custodial Services (Ireland) Limited, also known as Bacsil, through European Depositary Bank, one of its Luxembourg-based subsidiaries.

Bacsil is a depositary solution for onshore and offshore funds servicing a multitude of blue-chip clients consisting of Ucits, alternative investment funds and offshore depo-lite fund structures, across a wide range of strategies. Based in Dublin, the Bacsil business provides depositary services to client assets of 71.4 billion dollars.

EDB names Thils, Steele to executive management board

European Depositary Bank, part of the Apex group, has appointed managing directors Jean-François Thils, and Robert Steele (photo) as members of the executive management board.

David Rhydderch steps down from the EDB board and has been appointed as global head of financial products and managing director, Emea for the wider Apex Group.

Mikro Kapital appoints EDB as paying agent

European Depositary Bank, a Luxembourg-based provider of banking, depositary and custody solutions part of the Apex Group, on Monday said it has been appointed by Mikro Kapital Management S.A., a Luxembourg-based alternative lender and a leading microfinance and sustainable investor in emerging markets, for the delivery of paying agent services for the firm’s new bond issuances.

At Apex, Luxembourg inspires a global business model

At Apex Group, present in Luxembourg also with management companies such as FundRock and LRI Invest, each new acquisition and partnership announcement marks a waypoint on its long-term strategic journey. That journey still has some way to go, Apex’s founder and CEO Peter Hughes said in an interview with Investment Officer. “In terms of what the potential is, half-way certainly feels about right.”
