Luxembourg-based investment services provider IQ-EQ has named Shaun Geils as its global head of insurance.

Geils is stepping into a newly-created position intended to support IQ-EQ’s service offering from the firm’s London office in the United Kingdom.

He will “play a key role in driving growth in IQ-EQ’s debt, capital markets and corporates” segments, according to IQ-EQ. He will lead an insurance team, partnering with business development, client relations and portfolio management teams “to develop strategic and competitive solutions to address the needs of our current client base.”

He will also work on offering new options for clients by providing an expanded offering of insurance solutions.

Until his appointment, he served as IQ-EQ’s managing director for shared services in Mauritius, a tropical island in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of Africa with a strong financial services sector.

He first joined the firm in 2015 in that country to set up a unit servicing third party insurance, funds, private wealth and corporate clients. He then developed IQ-EQ’s shared services business.

“After successfully building out the Shared Services Centre in Mauritius,” said Edward Stevenson, group head of debt, capital markets and corporates. “I’m delighted to have Shaun on board as our global head of insurance, given his track-record of managing client relationships and formulating strategic operational procedures.
