This week’s overview of transfers, appointments, promotions and other career news includes updates from Ostrum Asset Management, the Federation of European Stock Exchanges, and the European Securities and Markets Authority, Esma.

Rosa Armesto (photo) will succeed Rainer Riess as the new Director General of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (Fese), starting 1 July.

Armesto, who has been the deputy director general since 2018, brings extensive experience in EU financial services and academia. Riess, stepping down after a decade, will continue as senior advisor until the end of 2024.

Armesto holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Zaragoza and the University of Groningen. She also is a lecturer in financial market infrastructures at Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management.

Fese’s general assembly also approved the application of the Bratislava Stock Exchange to become a full member. Fese now represents stock exchanges in all 27 member states of the EU.

The following Fese board members for a three-year term: Niels Brab, chief regulatory officer at Deutsche Börse; Ian Cornwall, head of market structure at SIX Group; and Tomasz Bardziulowski, chief executive officer of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. 

Gaëlle Théaud-Gautheron

Gaëlle Théaud-Gautheron has been appointed as chief operating officer at Ostrum Asset Management, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, from July.

Théaud-Gautheron will join the executive committee and report directly to CEO Olivier Houix. Her role will focus on optimising key processes, coordinating with Natixis Investment Managers and external service providers, and supporting commercial and contractual relationships.

With over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, Théaud-Gautheron’s career includes significant roles at Bearing Point, Société Générale CIB, and BPCE Group. She founded Théa Conseil in 2019 and has been managing partner at Natixis Global Financial Services. She holds a finance degree from Neoma Business School.

“Gaëlle’s knowledge of Groupe BPCE and her consulting expertise made her the ideal candidate to optimise and streamline the relationship between Ostrum AM’s teams and our providers within the Group, as well as externally,” said Ostrum CEO Olivier Houix, in a statement.

Guillaume Prache

Guillaume Prache has been reappointed as a representative of financial consumers to the Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group of the European Securities and Markets Authority, Esma.

Prache, senior advisor to Better Finance, a group representing users of financial services in Europe, said he has agreed to extend his existing mandate as member of the stakeholder group from 1 July. In the past he was the first chair of the group, and is a former vice chair of the European Commission’s financial services user group and member of the Eiopa pensions and EBA banking stakeholder groups.

The full list of appointments to the Esma stakeholder group per 1 July is due to be made public shortly. Professor Veerle Colaert of Leuven University in Belgium has chaired the group since July 20020. She already announced that she will step down as chair.
