Maria Vassalou

Maria Vassalou (photo) has been appointed as head of the Pictet Research Institute, whose official launch was announced earlier this week. Vassalou joins Pictet from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she was co-CIO of Multi-Asset Solutions. She holds a PhD in Financial Economics from London Business School. Maria will report to Sébastien Eisinger, Managing Partner at Pictet.

“The rapidly changing economic and market environment requires us to further strengthen our capabilities in analysing existing and developing global themes and trends,” said Eisinger in a statement.

Pictet said it hopes that the launch of the Pictet Research Institute, through its fundamental research, will enable the firm to better understand and adapt to the long-term implications of these developments.

James Morris

James Morris has been appointed as commercial director at Jersey-headquartered asset services provider Crestbridge. He will be responsible for the on-going strategic growth and development of new business across its European jurisdictions, building on its reputation for delivering high quality, solution-driven services for fund managers across a full range of structures and asset classes.

Morris joins Crestbridge from TMF, a global financial services provider where he was Head of Emea Private Equity & Debt Fund Sales, with responsibility for leading the firm’s provision of effective service solutions to its PE investors. His appointment adds further weight to Crestbridge’s experienced leadership team as it progresses its partnership with Gen II Fund Services, one of the world’s largest independent private capital fund administrators, the firm said.

“His appointment represents our on-going commitment to strategic growth and personalised service as we look forward to the development of our relationship with Gen II and leveraging our highly complementary geographical locations and combined private equity and real estate capabilities,” Michael Johnson, chief commercial officer at Crestbridge said in a statement.
