Samuel Kuborn is joining investor services firm IQ-EQ in a new role of regional chief operating officer, continental Europe, the firm announced on Wednesday.

Luxembourg-based investment services provider IQ-EQ has named Shaun Geils as its global head of insurance.

Geils is stepping into a newly-created position intended to support IQ-EQ’s service offering from the firm’s London office in the United Kingdom.

Spacs – special purpose acquisition vehicles – had a very good year in 2021, with some 600 Spacs raising 165 billion dollars but they are, like the rest of the economy, adapting to the new post-Covid economic reality. Many investment banking and legal experts active in the Spac field see them continuing to do well.

European financial centres are competing to benefit from rapid growth in SPAC investment vehicles on this side of the Atlantic after they came under regulatory fire in the United States. The Netherland’s Euronext leads in numbers, but Luxembourg attracts those with particular tax needs.
